Description
This is the Holt / Nautos “Race” version of the Laser vang system.
It operate very similarly to the Harken XD & Allen “Race” versions providing the same 15:1 purchase as those other two systems. It is effective whilst represents good value for money.
This vang arrangement works very well under low to medium loadings but under high loadings such as that might be applied by the “Elite” sailors in windy & rough off shore conditions then the Harken XD version is slightly more effective but not by much. The Harken cam cleat has the edge when it comes to un-cleating when under extreme load.
The shackle secures the lower assembly to the mast vang tang & the additional block is intended for the Cunningham system.
