Surprisingly stable, easy to paddle, quite quick & great fun right from the “get-go”.
Good directional stability whilst paddling due to bow & stern shape but, therefore not quite so manoeuvrable.
A good compromise between weight & resilience.
The one we tried out was the “weekend” which has a storage hatch & storage netting fore & aft.
With youngsters I think the storage hatch would be more trouble than its worth as it’s an opening into the hull.
The netting would be easy to fit retrospectively to the “basic” if needed as the inserts are ready moulded in.
The “weekend” has handles bow stern & both sides.
The “basic” handles bow & stern only but for your purposes I do not think that you want them at the sides.
The side handles allow it to be carried by a single person but the technique has to be correct.
i.e. Lower handle held with hand on side one is carrying on / upper handle held by opposite hand with arm across chest.
(sounds more complicated than it is! However I do not think you would want people carrying them on their own).
